Meet Katie Alyx

Hi! I'm Katie, a horror and dark romance author who believes the scariest monsters are usually human.

My stories blend psychological horror, dark romance, mystery, and suspense, exploring obsession, trauma, impossible choices, and the secrets people hide from each other and themselves. Whether it's contestants trapped inside a deadly reality show, rock stars carrying dangerous secrets, or characters forced to confront the darkest parts of who they are, I'm always drawn to stories that linger long after the last page.

When I'm not writing, you'll usually find me with a book in one hand and concert tickets in the other. I love live music, discovering new bands, creating bookish content online, and spending time with my guide dog, Quincey. Long before I published novels, I spent years sharing my own story in speeches about living with retinitis pigmentosa and how a guide dog changed my life. Learning to connect with people through storytelling eventually inspired me to start writing fiction.

Ash is a foster teen with history of abuse. Moving to a new foster homes, she hopes all the pain is in her past. Seeing her new foster brother Nick, she is entailed by his dangerously enigmatic persona. Nick seems to be taken by her but he also enjoys her pain. This is a captivating story with lots of chemistry, steamy hot scenes, secrets and unexpected twists. It is a bit of a dark romance but it is worth the read.

I want to start out by saying I can usually call the plot of a horror novel from the first ten pages but this book did not at all go where I thought it would! I devoured this book in less than 24 hours because it was so well paced and entertaining from the jump. I loved the inserts of the message boards and confessionals that made it really feel like you were engaging with a reality show. If I *had* to come up with a critique I’d say that I wish we had learned a little more at the end about the supernatural mechanisms behind the house and why it was created, but also part of the fun of books like this is the theorizing after you finish!

I absolutely could not put this book down!!! From the very start I was hanging onto every word able to picture every moment being written. If you're looking for something just dark enough that lights a lil fire in you and leaves you wanting more, definitely give it a read!
